Rolex Daytona “Zenith” • Ref 16520 •  White Dial • 40mm • Steel • 1996  • Collectors set

Greetings.  Thanks for looking at this beautiful timepiece. We are a 5-star seller with many hundreds of watches sold and delivered around the world.

Presenting the exquisite 40mm Rolex “Zenith” Daytona Reference 16520; a masterpiece of elegance and craftsmanship.

This timepiece is from 1996 (T-serial) and is an excellent collector’s set, complete with Watch, Outer and Inner boxes, Manuals, Rolex Service papers, bezel protector, original red + green hang tag.

It is in excellent pre-owned condition as shown the photos and is running to modern day Rolex precision. So please buy with total peace of mind.

This watch has been serviced by Rolex three times, with the most recent one in February 2022.  The watch has not been worn since it’s last service.

It is sized to fit +/- 18cm wrist plus a spare link is included.

The ”Zenith” Daytona is equipped with the “ Zenith El Primero” movement from partner watchmaker brand Zenith. First released in 1988, this was the first self-winding Daytona movements and would power the Daytona for 12 years before Rolex began making the Daytona calibres in-house.

Whilst using Zenith’s El Primero movement, Rolex did heavily modify it, reducing the frequency rate from 36,000 beats per hour to 28,800bph, removing the date function, and adding a new escapement with a Breguet overcoil, thus becoming the Rolex 4030 calibre.

It took Rolex five years to develop their in-house Caliber 4130, which made its debut in 2000.

Fun Fact, you can spot a Zenith Daytona by comparing the differences of the sub-dials.  On the Zenith Daytona watches, the 30-minute counter is located at 3 o’clock, the 12-hour counter is located at 6 o’clock, and the running seconds is located at 9 o’clock.

On the in-house Caliber 4130 Daytona watches, the running seconds is located at 6 o’clock and the 12-hour counter is located at 9 o’clock. Those two sub-dials switched positions while the 30-minute counter remained in its original location.

So the quickest way to spot a Zenith movement inside a Rolex Daytona by looking at the dial is checking to see if the running seconds is indeed at 9 o’clock.

The Zenith Daytona is a very popular collectors timepiece among Rolex enthusiasts and watch collectors.
